Astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken have docked at the international space station.

Although they arrived slightly ahead of schedule.

The pair successfully launched from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida yesterday.

The Dragon capsule is operated by the private SpaceX company.

It delivered Hurley and Behnken onto the station's bow section at around 15:15.

However that was a little earlier than first thought.

Meanwhile, Chris Cassidy welcomed the crew as they arrived.

"The crew of expedition 63 is honoured to welcome Dragon, from the commercial crew programme."

"Welcome aboard the International Space Station."

In addition, Cassidy welcomed the two newcomers by name.

"Bob and Doug glad to have you as part of the crew, well done. Bravo Zulu."
