People who have a síneadh fada in their names are being sent Digital Covid Certs with 'gobble-de-gook' on them.

That's according to Conradh Na Gaeilge.

It's after the group's General Secretary Julian De Spáinn received his.

However the fada has been replaced by unknown letters and characters.

Despite this, there are some síneadh fadas on the text belonged to the title of the Certificate itself.

The Government Needs To Replace Them

Julian says he wouldn't be confident going abroad when his passport doesn't match his Covid Cert:

"They're probably going to have to re issue these certs."

"Instead of doing it correctly from the start."

"Why do they need to replace them?"

"Well usually when they make a mess of a surname because of the síneadh fada, they get away with it."

"This time, you know I wouldn't be able to use that in an airport."

"Or anyone else who has the same problem with the síneadh fada wouldn't be able to use that in an airport."

"So the certs really need to be replaced."
