It's a historical day for abortion and same-sex marriage activists

Legislation to legalise abortion and same-sex marriage in Northern Ireland is due to come into force at midnight.

MPs in Westminster voted to decriminalise both unless a new power-sharing government's in place by the end of the day.

Assembly members will sit for the first time in two and a half years at Stormont to debate the changes, but they won't be able to block it.

The UK Government will then get to work on legislation to provide access to abortion services by next April.

In the meantime, women will be offered free transport to access services in England.

Same-sex marriage will be offered in the North from January.
