The people of Cherry Orchard are 'terrorised and in tears' over an incident in which a Garda car was rammed yesterday.
That's according to a local Sinn Fein Councillor, who says the community has been calling for a strong response to joy riders for months.
Videos widely shared online show a crowd watching two cars driving erratically last night when one of the two rams into a Garda car which was trying to stop the behaviour.
Chair of the local Joint Policing Committee, Councillor Daithi Doolan, says the community is traumatised by a minority
"They're terrorised I mean they were on the phone to me long before that video was watched by people.
"This is night after night after night and this is going back weeks and months.
"I was up there in January and I witnessed it first hand and therefore bore the brunt of an attack while standing with the residents.
"I hope the video that we've seen does land on the desk of the Commissioner and the Minister for Justice."
