A ceremony to mark the National Day of Commemoration has taken place at Collins Barracks in Dublin.
The event was to honour the Irish servicemen and women who died at war, or serving with the UN.
Organisers invited next of kin and relatives of those who died including relatives of the 1916 leaders.
However, otherwise the ceremony was closed to members of the public due to Covid restrictions.
The President Michael D Higgins laid a wreath in memory of those who died.
Attendees observed a minute's silence afterwards.
On this day we recall the Truce which came into effect 100 years ago.

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin addressed the gathering this afternoon.
"It is fitting that we remember here today, all of those Irish men and women who died in past wars."
"Or on service with the United Nations."
"On this day, we recall the truce which came into effect 100 years ago."
"In particular we remember those who died in the War of Independence."
He continued, "...and subsequent conflict on this island."
