What. A. Game

All the talk was about Tom Brady and Bill Belichek of the New England Patriots, and whether they could deliver a record-equalling 6th Super Bowl title.

It wasn't to be, however, as the Philadelphia Eagles spoiled the party in the most impressive and exciting way possible, coming away from Minneapolis with a 41-33 victory to win American Football's showcase event for the first time in their history.

It was effectively a shootout of outstanding proportions, as each team only had to punt the ball away once in the entire game.

Backup Eagles quarterback Nick Foles was outstanding, as he threw for 374 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception, while he also caught a touchdown from the throw of tight-end Trey Burton in an excellent trick play.

However, even though his team was on the wrong end of the scoreline, Tom Brady was still equally as impressive, throwing for 505 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Regardless of the game, over 500 yards is almost unheard of, never mind in the Super Bowl such as the quality on show from both Foles and Brady as neither would give up hope.

It always seemed to be a game that the Patriots were chasing, as they went in at half-time down by 22-12.

Nobody wanted to rule them out, after the heroics of Brady in the comeback against Atlanta Falcons in last year's showcase.

However, unlike Atlanta, Foles and the Eagles were able to keep up with the pace, and never let the pressure of the big occasion get to them as they claimed the Vince Lombardi trophy for the very first time.
