The ISPCA says pet owners are being forced to train their animals to get used to fireworks.

People who are considering buying fireworks this Halloween are being asked to think of the impact they have on others.

Getting Harder For Pet Owners

Keep your pet indoors, and give them a safe space to hide from the noise of fireworks. Its the advice we hear every year around Halloween.

However, the ISPCA Chief Inspector Conor Dowling says it's getting harder for pet owners.

"Increasingly nowadays, fireworks are being let off for extended periods around Halloween."

"Even for weeks or months."

"So it can be very difficult for people to keep up those steps for that period of time."

Fireworks are illegal and being caught with them carries hefty fines and prison sentences.
