There has been a further 397 Covid-19 cases.

54 people are in hospital with the virus, an increase of 3 in 24 hours.

16 are in ICU, which is up 2 over the same period.

No "Cycle Of Fear" Needed

Meanwhile, the Tánaiste says people shouldn't fall into a cycle of fear over the Delta variant.

Leo Varadkar says if we see thousands of new Covid cases a day in the near future, it's not the same as it would have been before the vaccination programme.

Ministers are highly concerned with England's plans to re-open almost completely later this month.

But Leo Varadkar says there shouldn't be a cycle of fear here:

"What I said is that 1,000 cases or 2,000 cases a day in the next few weeks or months isn't the same as a thousand or two thousand cases a day back in January, February or last year."

"So that's precisely because of the vaccine programme."

"Also, the fact that the link between cases, hospitalisations, ICU admissions and deaths is weakened if not broken."

Finally. the Cabinet has also agreed to increase the capacity on public transport from 50% to 75% from July 19th.

Minister Eamon Ryan told the cabinet it was to deal with increased pressure on the public transport system.

So that's now that more people are moving around.
