A multi-coloured, compostable sculpture has been added to Dublin city's Dame Street.

Based on a drawing of a candle holder, the artwork will sit outside City Hall for the next year.

It's the first of six sculptures that will be unveiled in Dublin over the coming months.

Sculpture Will Only Last A Year

Artist Alan Phelan says his artwork will break down over time;

”It's a temporary one year commission.”

”So it's only going to be there for a year.”

”I built in the ability for it to be decomposed.”

”It's made from eco-plastic which is a plant based plastic that the 3D printer can use.”

“Then it's covered in paper and paint.”

“So it can actually be composted and disintegrated.”
