Dublin City Council has confirmed it's adding more safe and secure parking spaces for bikes in the city centre.

The free indoor spots are being added to the car parks at Clerys and Jervis Street over the coming weeks.

300 spaces are already available in the car park on Drury Street.

Councillor Donna Cooney says we need to follow the lead of places like Amsterdam:

"Just looking at the hotels for bicycles over there I just thought do you know we just don't have that here and it's something that's really needed.

"This will just make it so much more comfortable to go in, put your bike, you know feel that it's secure and it's dry and you can get a bit of shopping pop it on your bike and off you go."
