Mass Shooting In Florida School Leaves 17 Dead

17 people have been killed after a high school shooting in Florida.

The attack took place at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in the city of Parkland, north of Miami.

According to local Sheriff, Scott Israel, 12 people were killed inside the school, while a number of others were gunned down outside.

A 19 year old man who is thought to be the gunman has been arrested.

Police believe the suspect, a past pupil who was expelled, deliberately set off fire alarms to get people out of the classrooms.

According to the gun safety group Everytown, the latest shooting is the 18th to take place at a school in America in 2018

A number of students reported being able to hear a gun behing fired in the school building, with many taking to Snapchat to record their surroundings.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has tweeted his condolences to the victims and their families, saying "no child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school."
