It's far too soon for a small town in County Laois to host tens of thousands at Electric Picnic.

That's according to Local Councillor to Stradbally, Paschal McEvoy.

So he is calling on organisers to postpone the festival once again.

He says residents are against happening this September, due to fears about spreading Covid 19.

"It's Simply Too Soon"

Cllr McEvoy believes it's too soon for the town to host a massive event:

"Money doesn't mean everything to people, public health comes first."

"That's paramount for us, that comes first and foremost for us here in Stradbally."

"Electric Picnic brings a massive financial contribution to the locality, and to Laois in general as well as probably further afield."

"We feel here in Stradbally that it's too soon to have 70,000 converging on a small town like this."
