Put the phone away when you're in bed!

We’re being warned that a lack of sleep among young people is at crisis levels.

Experts have found it can lead to depression, social isolation and a reliance on drugs and alcohol.

A new initiative has been launched today to help teachers and parents deal with the problem and ensure young people get enough sleep.

15 year old Shannon Lambert from Wicklow took part in a pilot for ‘The Sleep Programme' and said that her phone proved to be a problem.

"I found it hard to put my phone down and not be using it until two o'clock in the morning."

"I had really bad anxiety, picking up the phone and looking at messages people were sending me and thinking about more things."

"It all built up and the sleep was not good."
