KFC has apologised over the recent chicken shortage - and managed to keep its sense of humour at the same time.

The fast-food chain has shut hundreds of outlets across the UK and Ireland over the past week, after running short of stock.

An ad, created by KFC's creative agency, has been placed in a number of newspapers today.

In it, the three letters in the company's name are re-arranged to spell F-C-K on a chicken bucket, with the words "We're sorry" printed below.

The apology goes on to say "A chicken restaurant without any chicken. It’s not ideal".
