Heavy rain is promised for the weekend, following an unusually wet week in May.

Met Eireann say there will be some sunny spells on Saturday morning.

However it expects widespread showers to arrive afterwards.

What The Fliuch Is Going On?

It looks like those rain drops are going nowhere, as Met Eireann expects heavy showers in many parts tomorrow.

With spot flooding and hail on Sunday.

Meanwhile the Head of Forecasting Evelyn Cusack says it’s been a particularly cold May:

"So we're really essentially in an arctic or a polar air mass."

Adding to that Evelyn says, "so temperatures are well below average."

The Rain Isn't Ideal For Meeting Friends

For pubs hoping to attract customers with takeaway pints, an outdoor summer is an unreliable plan.

General Manager of Peggy Kelly's in Rathmines in Dublin Dairine Clinton says they expect business to be slow:

"It will be quieter."

"We do sell takeaway pints, mainly for our regulars."

"Ah there might be a few out [this weekend]."

Why Is My Weather App Going Mental?

Meanwhile many have queried the accuracy of Apple’s weather app.

It has promised rain in recent weeks when sunshine arrived.

Daragh Molloy from TADCO Apps Limited says the apps should be viewed as “rough indicator” of the weather

"The forecast for this feature is based off data from the Met Office."

"So the Met Office says that it's not yet possible to pinpoint exactly where and when localised weather will happen."

AA road watch has appealed to drivers to be extra cautious if they’re planning on travelling on wet roads this weekend.
