The Irish Rugby team made history last night by beating New Zealand for the first time on home soil.

The 16 points to 9 win was the first time the All Blacks were also kept try-less in a game against a Northern Hemisphere side since 1995.

Rugby fans across the country are today celebrating the victory.

President Michael D Higgins has written to the IRFU and Ireland captain Rory Best congratulating the team on "an extraordinary achievement"

Meanwhile the Minister for Sport Shane Ross says he was "delighted" to see the team come out on top and that the victory was a "monumental triumph."
