Irish Rail have set up a ‘Baby On Board’ campaign in order to encourage people to give up their seats for pregnant women.

Expectant women can choose to wear a ‘baby on board’ badge so that other passengers would know if they're pregnant instead of awkwardly guessing.

Spokesperson for Irish Rail, Jane Creegan, told Lauren on Spin Talk "there’s been very positive feedback both from pregnant women and other commuters", and that "sometimes there might be uncertainty about whether or not a person is pregnant or not".

Another spokesperson for Irish Rail, Berry Kenny says "with expectant mums, in some cases, particularly in the early months of pregnancy it isn’t clear for the people sitting down and that’s why the badges are specifically required in that situation".

Around 400 badges have been circulating in recent weeks as a trial run. If you are looking to get one of these you simply have to email your name and address to babybadges@irishrail.ie  and you will be sent one.

One listener contacted Lauren to say that she’s 31 weeks pregnant and she’s never used her bump as an excuse to get a seat. She also told Lauren that some people are completely unaware of their doings and that if people were just a little bit more aware.

Or, you could bring a barbershop quartet with you to let other passengers know:
