An ICU nurse as told the Central Criminal Court that she had never seen anybody as badly injured as Nadine Lott was when she came under her care in December 2019.

She was giving evidence at the trial of Nadine’s ex-boyfriend.

Daniel Murtagh is of Melrose Grove, Bawnogue, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.

He is accused of murdering her.

A paramedic who treated Nadine Lott as she lay covered in blood on her kitchen floor in Arklow, Co Wicklow, told the jury it was one of the most horrendous scenes he has ever walked into.

Ian Clarke said it will probably haunt him for the rest of his career.

After stabilising her, his team took her to St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin.

That's where ICU nurse Leah Grant said she had never seen anybody as badly injured as her.

She said she was completely unrecognisable.

Earlier, the jury heard a witness told gardaí that Daniel Murtagh was “like a wild animal”

That was when she walked in on him crouched over Nadine as she lay unconscious on the floor of her apartment.

Mr Murtagh has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his ex-girlfriend, but denies her murder.
