Public reps and health officials will meet later over a concerning rise in the spread of Covid-19 in Limerick.

There's an incidence rate of 411 per 100,000 people.

That's a high which hasn't been seen in any county since early February.

The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan will attend the meeting.

He says it's extremely important people in the region stick to the public health advice.

Could There Be A Local Lockdown For Limerick?

David Hurley's a journalist with the Limerick Leader.

He doesn't think the prospect of a local lockdown is immediate:

David says, "I don't think we're there yet."

"The rate is still 411 per 100,00."

"So the rate is nowhere near it was in parts of Limerick in January or February."

"It's one of those Dark Clouds mentioned by Dr Tony Holohan 10 days ago."
