There's good news for Dublin Bus customers across the west of Dublin and North Kildare, with the launch today of phase 2 of BusConnects network.

Commuters will have access to increased weekend and evening services, as well as increased capacity and frequency on C-Spine services.

A new 24 hour service is also being introduced on routes from Lucan to Sandymount, via the city centre.

Head of customer experience with the National Transport Authority (NTA), John O'Flynn, said the new BusConnects network also provides more local services:

"The connectivity is significantly enhanced in this phase of BusConnects. There are a lot of local services aswell as the Spine."

"There are local services serving areas in Lucan, Adamstown, Clondalkin, Red Cow and all over west Dublin. This is a new thing for Dublin, and it is increasing services."

The NTA launched it's 90 minute fare today as well.

Fianna Fail Cllr for Palmerstown - Fonthill Shane Moynihan explains how the system works:

"So the 90 minute fare will be from when you get on one mode of TFI transport until you get off another one. The fare you pay will cover that 90 minute stretch."
