DNA tests are being carried out on human remains which were discovered in a burnt-out car near Croke Park in Dublin.

Gardai are investigating if they belong to the same victim whose remains were found in Coolock on Monday.

Locals rang gardai at around 1am after spotting a car on fire on Trinity Terrace off Clonliffe Avenue.

They’re stunned that human remains were found inside the car.

DNA tests will now be carried out on the remains but one definitive line of inquiry is the remains from Coolock and here in Drumcondra belong to the same victim.

Detectives are investigating if the body parts belong to a teenage boy who has links to a criminal gang and has been missing for a number of days.

It’s feared the 17 year old has been abducted and murdered.

The Garda Technical Bureau, the State Pathologist, the Coroner and Forensic Science Ireland are all involved in the investigation as efforts continue to identify the victim.
