Gardai are appealing for information on Dublin’s latest gangland murder.

27 year old Jason ‘Buda’ Molyneux was shot dead at a flat complex in North Strand last night.

He had just attended the wake of his friend Derek Hutch - who was also murdered over a week ago.

Witnesses reported seeing a man in dark clothing running from the area while the suspected get away vehicle was found near the East Link Toll Bridge.

Superintendent Gerard Murphy sympathized with the local community who have had to endure another murder in their area "This is a callous murder. This is a murder which has occurred in an area which has been the subject of a number of murders in the past."

He urged locals to come together in order to help them with the investigation "We need the help of the community to assist us. We're out there on an ongoing basis. I'm appealing to the community to come forward and help us with this investigation."

Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan also stated that the Gardaí will be doing everything in their power to bring the gangland violence to an end "While the matter of resources is kept under review. As far as gangland activity particularly in the inner city area is concerned it's not an issue. We will continue to keep the matter under review. As regards last nights killing, let me assure the house that this is a very active criminal investigation and that no stone will be left unturned by the Garda Síochana to bring those responsible to justice."
