At least one person has died after a fire in a property in Dublin city centre.

It broke out on Parkgate Street this morning.

A body has been taken from a property on Parkgate Street, where a fire burned this morning.

The building is next door to the Ashling hotel - the interior appears to have sustained significant damage and one of the upstairs windows is broken.

Gardaí were alerted to the blaze at around quarter past nine this morning and remain at the scene - several fire brigade units left before midday.

The building remains cordoned off as investigations continue.

LUAS trams on the red line were temporarily not serving stops between Blackhorse and Smithfield - but service is back up and running now.
