An advisory group says the digital age of consent should stay at 13.

Recently, there have been calls to raise the age to 16.

It was after a number of cases where young children were pressured into sending sexually explicit images online.

But, the Internet Content Governance Advisory group has told the Children's Committee on cyber safety that setting the age at 16 could put children at further risk.

The group's chairperson Professor Brian O'Neill says it would do nothing for children's internet safety and "could open unintended consequences, and further exposure to risks for children who are not otherwise covered by appropriate privacy protection".
