Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen has written a message to thank people for their support "from all around the world".

The Inter Milan and former Spurs player is recovering in hospital after he suffered a cardiac arrest.

It happened on Saturday, while he was playing for his country against Finland in their Euro 2020 opener.

Denmark players gather together on the pitch as they return to resume the match which was suspended earlier.

"I'm Fine, Under The Circumstances"

His full post says:

"Hello everyone."

"Big thanks for your sweet and amazing greetings and messages from all around the world. It means a lot to me and my family."

"I'm fine - under the circumstances. I still have to go through some examinations at the hospital, but I feel okay."

"Now, I will cheer on the boys on the Denmark team in the next matches."

"Play for all of Denmark!"

Eriksen will remain in hospital in the coming days for further tests.

Muamba Writes A Message Of Support

Meanwhile, Fabrice Muamba, who suffered a cardiac arrest himself on the pitch on St. Patrick's Day 2012, wrote this on Twitter.

Credit of course must go to the brilliant medical staff who got to him so quickly and did an amazing job to make sure he was ok.

They deserve a lot of credit for how they handled the situation and enabled Christian to be in a position where he's recovering in hospital.

"It could have so easily gone the other way."

Fabrice also hailed Christian's teammates, who were on the scene immediately to help him.

"Sending you all my love, Christian."
