The Situation Is "Stable But Uncertain"

Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan says next week's reopening is a very positive sign and a testament to the hard work of most people in supressing the virus.

The 14 day incidence rate per 100,000 of the population is 129.7.

Deputy CMO Ronan Glynn:

"The overall situation analysis then is that the incidence and the overall profile is stable but uncertain.

"The reproduction number is estimated at or around 1 and we need to monitor that over the coming weeks.

"Thankfully deaths and numbers in hospital or critical care are decreasing."

Finally, Mr. Glynn adds, "..and we are beginning to see more and more the impact of vaccination"
