There has been a further 431 Covid-19 cases and 12 deaths.

160 of the cases are in Dublin, 50 in Kildare, 34 in Donegal, 21 in Meath, and 20 are in Limerick.

There are 192 covid patients in hospital and 49 are in ICU.

The 14 day incidence rate is 132 cases per 100,000 people and the 5 day average is 388 - both down slightly over the past 24 hours.

Astra Zeneca May Be Given To Those Who Consent

Meanwhile, the government is considering allowing people under the age of 60 to take the AstraZeneca vaccine if they consent to it.

NIAC has recommended against use in under-60s because of the risk of very rare blood clotting.

But it has been discussed whether people could be allowed to take the vaccine if they accept the risk.

The HSE and vaccine task force is continuing work to re-draft the roll-out plan.

That's in light of decisions on AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson.

Covid 19 Vaccine Portal To Open For 65+

The vaccine portal to register for appointments will open at 10am tomorrow morning.

The HSE is asking people aged 69 to register tomorrow followed by the rest of the 65-68 year olds over the following days.

People can also register over the phone and will need their PPS number, eircode and phone number.

Appointments will likely come around two weeks after registration and it's expected the AstraZeneca vaccine will be used.
