Mid-ranking Gardaí say they don't know what's expected of them when it comes to enforcing Covid-19 restrictions.

The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors has said it is looking for clarity from the Government.

That's after Micheal Martin's speech last night.

The Taoiseach said last night that Level 3 measures will be stepped-up to increase compliance.

"Urgent And Immediate" Clarification Needed

General Secretary of the union Antoinette Cunningham says there needs to be an end to the confusion:

"AGSI are unclear as to what those enforcement measures actually consist of."

"So we're calling for immediate and urgent clarification on the Taoiseach's comments last night."

"Where he said he was going to step up measures to increase compliance."

"As members of An Garda Síochána we'd like to know what that actually means."
