Covid 19: 456 New Cases But Ireland's Rate Among EU's Lowest

The Department of Health has confirmed 456 news cases of Covid-19 with no additional deaths.

189 cases are in Dublin.

While 52 are in Cork, 49 in Donegal, 39 in Kildare, 17 in Galway.

So the remaining 110 cases are spread across 20 other counties

As of 8am, there were 111 covid-19 patients in hospital, of which 36 are in intensive care.

The 14 day incidence rate is 129 per 100,000 people.

Irish Rate Among The EU's Lowest

Ireland has the sixth lowest 14-day incidence rate of Covid-19 in the EU.

Portugal has the lowest, at 50 cases per 100,000 people, followed by Malta, Finland, Romania and Slovakia.

According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, Ireland's rate is 124.

Cyprus has the highest incidence rate in the bloc, at 797.
