Risk Of Contracting Covid Is 100 Times Greater Than It Was In June

Commenting on the figures Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said "We are now at Level 5 because the disease is very serious."

"We all need to stay home, except for essential work and exceptional circumstances."

He advises confirmed cases to stay at home and self isolate.

The CMO says close contacts of confirmed cases should stay at home and contact your GP.

Meanwhile his deputy Dr Heather Burns was concerned about the increasing incident rate.

She said "The risk of you being exposed to COVID-19 is now 100 times greater than it was 4 months ago."

Dr Burns echoed Dr Holohan saying, "Please limit your risk by staying at home and following public heath advice."
