McGregor took to Instagram last night to share a career update with his 22.5 million followers.
He revealed that he put his name forward "to step in at UFC 222 to face Frankie Edgar when Max Holloway pulled out" however he was denied as there "wasn't enough time to generate the money that the UFC would need."
He continued, "I was excited about bouncing in last minute and taking out the final featherweight, without all the rest of the stuff that comes with this game."
McGregor then went on to ask that people respect the "insane amount of work outside the fight game that I have put in."
He promised that he is fighting again and that it's now up to the UFC "to come and get me. Because I am here."
