Attack in Co Louth

A family has been forced to leave their home after a mother was beaten with a baseball bat in Co Louth.

It is the latest attack on a family who live in College Manor in Dundalk, who have also had rocks and bananas thrown at their house.

The mother says she has been living in Ireland for 15 years and it was the worst attack she has experienced:

"The woman came back to me and hit me with the stick and knocked me on the head."

"The men that came with her started kicking my back."

The family have been subjected to abuse for over a year.

The son who was also targetted in the attack last Friday injured himself as he jumped out of a window.

Gardaí say they are investigating the assault and no arrests have been made.

In a statemnt they say:

"Gardaí are investigating an assault that occurred at a property in the College Manor area of  Dundalk on Friday 18th September at approximately 9pm."

"No arrests have been made, investigations ongoing."

"We have no further comments to make at this time."
