Clery's clock is back on O'Connell Street!

The famous face underwent restoration works, as part of the redevelopment of the former department store.

Romantic Tales

Did you ever meet someone nice under Clery’s Clock?

One man told us he waited across the road at "Burger Land" for an hour - not realising his date was under the clock.

That was before mobile phones!

"I just got it wrong, as usual!" he laughed.

One of Dublin’s best known meeting-points - Clery’s Clock re-opened this afternoon.

Horologist Philip Stokes carried out the restoration works on the famous clock.

"We're into antiques, so our main project would be to get it back to how it looked day one."

Philip says he "loved the challenge," the clock posed.

From tomorrow, members of the public can step inside for the first time in eight years, and visit a free exhibition looking at the history of the building.

The location will now be known as ‘Clery’s Quarter’ and from next summer the building will include shops, offices and a hotel.
