Boohoo controversy

Online fashion retailer Boohoo says it'll terminate relationships with any supplier which doesn't meet safety standards.

An undercover investigation by The Sunday Times at a warehouse it uses in Leicester claimed staff are paid £3.50 an hour.

Boohoo says it was not a "declared supplier" and it's taking immediate action.

In a statement to the stock market, the retailer said:

"We will not hesitate to immediately terminate relationships with any supplier who is found not to be acting within both the letter and spirit of our supplier code of conduct.

"This includes very clear expectations on transparency about second-tier suppliers."

The firm said it was "very grateful" the alleged conditions had come to light and branded them "totally unacceptable".

Boohoo also owns the online brands Pretty Little Thing, Nasty Gal and MissPap.

Last year it was valued at over €946 million.
