A UK bakery chain has apologised after its advent calendar used a sausage roll instead of Jesus in its nativity scene.

A spokesperson for Greggs says it's 'sorry to have caused any offence', and this was never its intention.

The company had advertised the calendars, which featured a number of their signature pastries.

One campaigner's called for a boycott, describing the product as "sick".
