It's been revealed that around 20% of applicants for a driving test are no shows.

The Road Safety Authority has revealed the figure after it was recently found that some people are forced to wait for 12 weeks before they can sit their test.

The RSA says the fact that around 1 in 5 don't show up to take the driving test does have a major impact on those waiting lists.

The body has been recruiting additional testers, in advance of a clampdown on unaccompanied learner drivers.

It's expected the clampdown will lead to a spike in applications.
