Covid lockdowns have affected our sporting habits over the past two years.

Participation in sport amongst adults has fallen in the past two years.

The number of adults actively participating on teams or individually sits at just 40 per cent.

The figures come from a Sport Ireland survey for 2021.

Running, swimming and cycling were the most popular sports at the end of the year.

The numbers significantly reduced at the height of the GAA season in the summer.

During the summer, adult participation in sports was at around 11 per cent.

32 per cent of those surveyed say they're a member of a sports club.
