50 million additional doses of the Pfizer Covid vaccine have been secured by the EU this quarter.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin estimates that this will be about 545,000 for Ireland.

It will be welcome news for the Government following the updated Astra Zeneca advice.

That restricts the vaccine to over 60s here, for the most part.

While Johnson and Johnson has suspended deliveries of it's vaccine.

So that's because of reported cases of rare blood clots in the USA.

Meanwhile, 100 million Covid vaccinations have been administered across the EU so far.

Ursula Von Der Leyen says they are doing everything in their power to support the vaccination roll out.

"50 million additional doses of Biontech Pfizer vaccines will be delivered in quarter 2, beginning in April."

She added that they were initially planned for the final three months of 2021.

"Now they're available in the second quarter of 2021, that is right now."
