436 cases of Covid 19 have been confirmed.

101 patients are in hospital with the virus of which 39 are in ICU.

The department of health may change figures later, due to future data reviews following the cyber attack.

Health Service To Open Vaccine Portal For 40-44s

Meanwhile the vaccine portal for 40-44 year olds will open in the coming days.

However, there's concerns about the government timelines.

It's after confirmation of an under-delivery from Johnson and Johnson in June.

Ireland may get as little as 60,000 of the planned 476,000 single dose vaccines next month.

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has said the delay should only be for a matter of weeks:

"Where we stand now is that over 2.5 million vaccines have been administered."

"By the end of this week more than half of Ireland's adult population will have received at least one dose."

"That's very good progress."

"We expect to open the portal for people 40-44 in the coming days."

Varadkar: Everyone Has Good Reasons To Be Hopeful

However the Tánaiste also says people have every reason to be hopeful.

That's ahead of the announcement on the further easing of covid restrictions.

It’s understood public health officials have backed plans to reopen despite some concerns about the Indian variant.

International travel, live events and indoor dining are all being looked at.
