More parts of Dublin are to become subject to 30 kilometre an hour speed limits.

The city council's Transport Committee is to meet this week to discuss rolling out the zones to extra suburbs.

The limits are already in place in most of the inner city.

Committee chair, Councillor Ciaran Cuffe says new zones will include, "Harold's Cross, Cabra, Artane, Killester and East Wall so it's really spreading into more neighbourhoods in the city that will mean lower speed limits - hopefully a reduction in the speed of vehicles and I think improved road safety for all road users".
