240 More Coronavirus Cases Confirmed And One Further Death

The Department of Health has confirmed 240 more Coronavirus cases today.

While one more patient infected with the virus has died.

The death toll in the Republic is now 1,789.

Over half of today's cases, 119, were discovered in Dublin.

There were 19 in Wicklow, 17 in Kildare, 16 in Donegal, 15 in Waterford and ten in Limerick.

The remaining 43 are spread across 15 other counties.

Serious Warnings For Dublin Amid Coronavirus Surge

The Health Minister Stephen Donnelly says it's a 'critical juncture' for Dublin.

While the Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ronan Glynn has this advice for people in the capital:

“50% of today’s cases are in Dublin. We are now seeing a higher proportion of cases in older age groups."

“Act now to save lives."

"Limit your contacts as much as possible."

"Assume you and those you meet are infectious, keep your distance and do your part to keep others safe.”
