The National Ploughing Trade Exhibition will not go ahead this year.

However, the national competitions will still go ahead.

The event normally draws a crowd of about 300,000 people.

It was due to take place in Co Laois, this September.

However the organisers say they've cancelled it because they're not sure what Covid restrictions will be in place.

They say it's a 'massive disappointment' to call off the event for the second year in a row.

Ploughing Organisers Unsure Of Restrictions

Assistant managing director, Anna Marie McHugh, says they had no choice but to cancel it.

"We should be starting to map out our event at this point in time."

"So we've sought clarity as to what the situation might look like in September in relation to restrictions.

"But we've no kind of a roadmap."

"So we just can't progress any longer."
