Catching up with Yewande

We've been spoiled with Irish islanders on this year's Love Island.

While we love Maura and are so excited to see how Greg gets on tonight, Yewande Biala was our OG Dublin contestant!

Having gone into the villa on day one, her journey wasn't exactly smooth sailing and a harsh decision from Danny saw her dumped from the island on day 19.

Now she's back on Irish soil, we caught up with the 23-year-old to see how she's getting on since leaving the show.

Life after Love Island

"It's different, a little bit over whelming," Yewande tells our Entertainment Reporter Tara Walsh on life after Love Island.

"I think I'm just settling into my new reality and taking each day as it comes."

Before entering the villa Yewande was working as a Quality Assurance Specialist for Bristol-Myers Squibb.

She plans a return to science when the aftermath of the show dies down.

"Right now I'm really busy doing press and TV, but when I get a little less busier it would be great to have a plan."

"Hopefully to be able to merge science and media together would be amazing."

Dating

You're not the same person after you leave Love Island.

Suddenly everyone knows your name and you've a lot more Instagram followers then when you went into the villa.

Waiting for the LOML to slide into my DM’s like

While Yewande confirmed she has had some interesting DMS, she wasn't giving any names away!

"I think everyone who has slid into my DMs is just shocking really...people from music and it's just really weird."

Even though the Dubliner failed to find her guy in the villa, she still thinks the show is a great way to meet new people.

"Yea, it's a great way to find love, not even just romantic love."

"It's a great way to learn about yourself as a person... It's also great to find an amazing group of friends."

"I've learned that there are different types of love and different ways to express how you feel," Yewande continued.

"I've learned that friendships are crucial and so important."

What wasn't aired

We all know there's a lot of Love Island footage that we never get to see.

23 hours a day to be exact!

But was there any crucial moments from Yewande's time in the villa that should have been shown? Yes, she tells Tara.

"There was a conversation I had with Sherif the first week because I just felt really down and everyone was in somewhat of a romantic couple, getting to know each other and I just didn't find that."

"I struggled, Sherif struggled and there was a conversation we had that I thought was key to finding out more about me as a person and that wasn't aired."

Yewande contines, "I would have liked that to be aired because maybe people would have understood me and Danny and maybe why it took me a while to warm up."

"I think I was crying that whole day and he (Sherif) was the only person who could stop me from crying. For someone who is twenty he gives fantastic advice."

Love Island secrets

With a real islander in our presence, we had to ask some of those big questions.

Like, is there anywhere to have a private conversation?

Why do we never see the islanders eating and what is up with bedtime?

"There are no private conversations," says Yewande.

"The rule is only one person can go to the bathroom so if they (the producers) see you going in with someone else there's a little air com and they'll tell you to stop!"

"We're all told to go to bed at the same time, if we didn't all go to bed at the same time it could move the story along."

"Someone could be having a crucial conversation and I could be a sleep and I could need to be a part of that."

"And you're always knackered as well!"

"In the mornings you have to stay in bed until they (the producers) tell you to get up."

"Some people try to get up early and they are like, 'No, go back to bed.'"

Meal times

Finally Yewande revealed that the guys and girls are made to eat separately.

"We do sit together for dinner but before I left they separated the girls from the guys because we started to move the story along."

And what about packing for Love Island?

"You were only allowed two 20kgs, so you had to be very smart about what you were packing."

Love Island returns to Virgin Media Two tomorrow night from 9pm.
