The Prom

Netflix have released the first official teaser trailer for The Prom.

The movie features an all star cast including Meryl Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman and more.

It's directed by Ryan Murphy - the man behind American Horror Story, The Boys In The Band and more.

The Prom follows the story of New York City stage stars Dee Dee Allen (Streep) and Barry Glickman (Corden).

Their expensive new Broadway show is a major flop that has suddenly flatlined their careers.

Meanwhile, in small-town Indiana, high school student Emma Nolan is dealing with problems of her own.

The head of the PTA at her school (Kerry Washington), has banned her from attending prom with her girlfriend, Alyssa.

This comes despite the support of her high school principal (Keegan-Michael Key).

Dee Dee and Barry decide Emma's predicament is the perfect cause to help resurrect their public images.

They hit the road with Angie (Nicole Kidman) and Trent (Andrew Rannells).

They're another pair of cynical actors looking for a professional lift.

In the trailer, Dee Dee walks through the halls of the school.

She narrates, "We have come to this community on behalf of a young girl."

In the school hall, Emma tells her fellow students, "I just wanna go to prom like any other kid."

Angie is later shown comforting Emma in what appears to be her bedroom.

She tells her, "You are not alone. You do have friends and we are ride or die."

The teenager hilariously replies, "Where are they?"

The Prom is out on Netflix December 11th.
