The Top 10 Most-Watched Shows And Movies On Netflix UK & Ireland In April

Netflix releases statistics for the first time

Netflix is famous for being secretive about its stats and viewing figures.

However, last week the streaming service made a move towards transparency.

A tweet from the Netflix UK & Ireland Twitter account began, 'From next Wednesday we’ll bring you WEEKLY top 10 lists.'

To compile the lists Netflix looks at the most-watched shows, films and specials.

They consider a show or film as 'watched' if a viewer finishes at least 70%.

From next Wednesday we’ll bring you WEEKLY top 10 lists. So keep an eye out if you like great TV, great films, *or* lengthy twitter threads. Some of you will also see these lists on Netflix starting next week.

TV Series

To launch the new initiative Netflix released lists for April 2019.

Coming as a surprise to some users, Black Summer was the most-watched TV show.

For those who aren't familiar it's an American zombie apocalypse drama that premiered last month.

Ricky Gervais' After Life came in second with Riverdale and Brooklyn Nine-Nine make the top 10.

Films

Noah Centineo's The Perfect Date was the most-watched movie in April.

Baywatch came in at number seven with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at number eight.

Overall

The overall most watched piece of content on Netflix in April was David Attenborough's Our Planet. 

Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina were two of the four shows that made the list.

Popular movies included The Highwaymen starring Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson and The Silence starring Kiernan Shipka.

Bear Gryll's choose your own adventure show You vs. Wild was number 10.
