'Flexibility and Choice'..sounds a lot different to secondary school right? Well, that's what Maynooth University pride themselves on. So if you're off to college next year and need some guidance, why not pop along to the Maynooth University Open Day this Friday and Saturday.

There you'll have the opportunity to chat to students and academic staff who'll be on hand to answer your questions about the degrees, facilities and supports they offer.

Throughout the Open Days, student ambassadors will lead guided tours of the campus and facilities and will answer all your questions about student life. You can also pop along to talks on a diverse range of subjects from psychology, to primary teaching, to careers and subject choice.

So what makes Maynooth University different?

  • They have changed what they teach and how they teach, to make sure you graduate with the critical skills that employers want - the ability to think critically and communicate clearly.
  • You get plenty of time in first year to decide what subjects you want to study.
  • In second year, you get to study electives - short courses outside you main degree - in areas like Entrepreneurship, Creativity & Problem Solving; Climate Change or a modern language.
  • You get to do experiential learning -things like work experience, study abroad, learning through volunteering - to develop the skills you will need in employment.
  • They have simplified CAO entry routes to give you maximum flexibility in your degree.

And if you’re going to spend the next few years studying, you might as well squeeze some fun in while you’re at!

At the Open Day, you'll also get the chance to meet with student reps from over 100 clubs and societies. The clubs and societies are run by the students for the students. Getting involved will enhance your university experience and help you to learn new skills and make new friends.

In fact, former students love the Uni so much 86% of them students would still choose to attend Maynooth if starting their university career again.

From computer programmers to teachers, scientists to journalists, graduates from Maynooth University go on to a wide variety of careers. You may even recognise some of their former grads..
