If you're planning on staying up for the Super Bowl this weekend with your friends, there's no doubt that you need to do it properly.

So instead of simply just watching the clash of the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles, you need to have yourself a proper Super Bowl party.

So, what does a Super Bowl party entail?

Not a whole lot, you've got the game, a couple of beers, and an endless supply of snacks.

But, what snacks?

That's why we're here. Feast your eyes on these delicious essentials of every Super Bowl party.

1. Nachos

Nachos are the perfect thing to have ready just as the game is kicking off. I don't simply mean a bag of Doritos Chili Heatwave either, I mean proper, meaty, cheesy nachos.

Get some tortillas, or Doritos if you prefer, cook some mince, chop some green onion for an added bit of crunch and taste top it with a bit of shredded cheese (mix of chedder and mozerella). Throw it in the oven until the cheese melts, then simply load it with salsa, sour cream and guacamole for the extreme, potentially messy goodness.

2. Cocktail sausages and chicken wings

Chicken wings are an absolute must for any Super Bowl party. Cocktail sausages are a must for just any party really.

Best time to put these on would be towards the end of the first quarter so that they're nice and fresh right in the middle of the second quarter.

3. Onion Rings

Another little nibble to bite into. There's no party without having something to make your breath stink a little bit after you're done chomping into the crunchy battered ring of onion.

These would be great to have as another option to your cocktail sausages and chicken wings. Don't forget your garlic and BBQ dips, either!

4. Pizza

Glorious, glorious pizza.

You can't watch any sporting occasion without a bit of pizza, can you?

It seems not many Americans can, as roughly 12 million (yes, 12 MILLION) pizzas will be delivered throughout Super Bowl Sunday.

This is the perfect thing to order just before the half time show because by the time it’s over, you’ll have a piping-hot pizza with all your favourite toppings just in time for the second half.

5. Brownies

It's towards the end of the game where you'll have a bit of a sweet tooth, so bake yourself a batch of brownies and have them ready.

Better still, you can heat the brownies up a bit, and have them with...

6. Cookie Dough Ice-Cream

This is probably the GREATEST ice-cream you can ever have.

We've spoken about heating up the brownies and mixing in their warmth with a refreshing taste of ice-cream.

For the record, it doesn't have to be cookie-dough. Whatever ice-cream tickles your fancy.

For the vegans among us, there's also these options for you to rustle up during the game, as put together by Hannah O'Connell

Vegan Chilli

You can’t go wrong with a good chilli and trust us, your carnivore guests will not be able to taste the difference in this Quorn mince recipe. Also the longer the chilli is left to simmer the more the flavour is enhanced so it’s practically forcing you to put your feet up for a couple of hours.

Vegan Loaded Potato Skins

Super easy, cheap and who doesn’t love a good potato! These bite-size snacks will fill up your guests without leaving you with loads of washing to do afterwards. This recipe uses a sun-dried tomoto and chickpea mash but you can get creative with the fillings.

Vegan Pizza

Ah pizza, possibly the perfect party food. Thanks to this recipe you don’t have to miss out if you’re sticking dairy free. The instructions are simple and you can swap out the suggested toppings for whichever are your faves.

That's just a taster of some of the things you can do for your Super Bowl party with your mates. Oh, and don't forget the beers to go with it. Just don't drink too much, you've still got work the following morning.
