Last night's X Factor was overshadowed by serious technical issues, which resulted in the public vote being cancelled.

Viewers took to social media to complain about the problems, and many stated that the performances sounded distorted and contestants sounded like 'Daleks' from Dr. Who.

ITV apologised and said the vote will take place on tonight's show instead.

A message appeared on screen which read: "We are sorry for the temporary interference in sound."

Host Dermot O'Leary never referred to the issues however as last night's show was not live - it had been pre-recorded on Saturday afternoon.

At the end of the programme, another message said: "Due to a technical issue, tonight's vote has been cancelled. It will open in tomorrow night's show.
