The gal pals adventures ended in 2021.

Maura Higgins and Lucie Donlan were fan favourites on the 2019 season of Love Island, but it's been revealed why their friendship came to an end.

The pair were so close that they would jet away together, including taking a luxury trip to the Maldives in 2021.

But last autumn, Maura made it clear their friendship was over as she unfollowed Lucie on Instagram.

A source told The UK Sun that the pair are in different places in their lives, which led to them "drifting apart."

Why did they drift?

"It was fun when they were both single and going on holidays together but Lucie's settling down in Cornwall with her fiancé and Maura lives in London," the source said.

"When Maura unfollowed Lucie though, it was a bit of a shock — clearly they weren't as close as Lucie thought they were, as it was a bit of a harsh move and ended the friendship on a bit of a sour note."

Maura isn't the only islander Lucie isn't in touch with.

In 2019, Molly Mae Hague explained that she and Lucie "weren't close" in the villa, so the pair never stayed in touch once the show ended.
