"Weeks roll into months, and again I noticed our replies and energy effort levels were just on a steady decline."

"Then all of a sudden, he rang me quite out of the blue and was like, 'I need to end it and I need to end it now.'"

"It was quite sudden which I was taken aback by," Demi admitted.

Demi receives a DM from a fan

Shortly after their split, Demi said she received a DM from a fan who had spotted Luke and Lucie in Cornwall together.

"This was probably less than two weeks after the public break-up," she said.

"I went back and went through all of Lucie’s profile to see if there was anything on there that maybe might seem like they’re together."

Demi revealed, "I noticed all these cryptic captions... and I put two and two together."

"They must’ve started talking during lockdown, he then wanted to meet up with her or something..."

"Or maybe he was already meeting up with her, I don't know and that's why he wanted to suddenly cut it."

Luke reacts

As a result of Demi's video, Luke and Lucie have been receiving some awful messages from online trolls.

He took to Instagram Stories to address the issue, "So there has been a YouTube video put out, and it’s basically Demi addressing our relationship and why we split up again for like the fourth time now."

"This is like seven months down the line, I’m happy and she’s been dating other people so I don’t see why it needs to be brought up again."

Demi's request

Luke claimed Demi asked that he wait a couple weeks before announcing the split.

He alleges she wanted to wait until her clothing brand had launched so she could get some publicity around it.

The former Islander said he, "wasn't too happy about it," but he agreed.

Luke said the story got leaked after he opened up about their split to some friends.

"She wasn't very happy but I thought, my feelings come first and I'm not gonna be with someone who I'm not happy with."

He said they called it quits on May 29th, and Lucie contacted him about a week after to see if he was single.

Luke continued, "Then we went on a date on the 17th June, which wasn't in Cornwall..."

"We started going out in July and yeah, that's pretty much it."

"So I'd just like to squish it now, get it over and done with, it's done and dusted and I hope everyone can get on with their lives."

'This totally unnecessary and uncalled for YouTube video has been put out there without any thought for our feelings and that of our families.'

Lucie continued, 'I would have hoped that having been on Love Island herself Demi might have stopped to think that obviously her followers will come for myself and Luke in a bid to defend her.'

Lucie believes Demi's comments were inappropriate

'I’m really disappointed that she’s allowed this to happen especially bearing in mind she has on several occasions in the past commented on the break up and wished us nothing but happiness…'

'Yes, we also get questions asked daily about how we split up with our respective ex’s but we don’t think its appropriate to create drama around other people’s lives, especially if we can see they’ve moved on and are happy.'

Lucie wrote, 'This video has unfortunately sent a whole load of hate trolls our way which has really affected both of us with their horrible and sometimes disgusting comments.'

'It’s really something that should not be happening on the internet especially in these difficult times when people are already struggling with their mental health.'
